Glass heroes

Civilization is the infrastructure that you and I use to live. At all. Everything we end up doing leans on civilization to assist it. Civilization is strong and fundamental, and lovable, even where society can seem confusing and even frustrating at times. Fitting into civilization such that you feel justifiably valued and such that you feel the value in things helps create real contentment.

Who shows us how to do that? Anyone can. Is that what makes a hero in times of peace? And they’ll uphold civilization if and when the time comes?

Some people want to admire characters in fiction because fiction gives us catharsis. We can really feel the value there quickly, but it’s emotional. Most fictional stories aren’t object lessons, and most characters don’t necessarily do the right things. Characters in fiction are usually built around stories, and they’re used to maximize and flamboyantly resolve conflict in stories.

A real life that’s a good true story to live out takes a long time to build, and we build it conscientiously, so that the person at the center of it is worth knowing.

Heroes

I want real-life heroes to emerge who are extremely exciting, out of the people who know that they want to be heroes, or maybe know that they need to be heroes. I want them to be doing good problem solving, understanding good and evil and choosing good, vocal on morality, known, and respected. I don’t want other people to compare themselves to these heroes and feel less; I want this to be larger than that. I want people to enjoy them, get excited if they want to, to know these heroes’ minds and ways where appropriate, to find inspiration, and move alongside the zeitgeist and find room to be a part of it, feeling more heroic themselves, more solid in understanding. I want this sorely needed, spontaneous movement toward inviting in moral heroism to electrify and shape culture in a good way. I think we all need the pick-me-up right about now. It’ll create the necessary wind for a very refreshing shift. These won’t be heroes by contrast alone, but by momentum, by doing the right thing, doing the right thing, doing the right thing, again and again.

Not the tiring thing. Not the routine thing that calcifies a situation just to mollify one more of someone else’s anxieties. I mean the really right thing, anointed so by the flame of intuition, morals, philosophy, and ethics.

Heroes to set a harmonious tone for the Satya. I want them to live valid modern myths. Because we need them.

The only way to be iconic at this time is to choose the good.
