The shadow

The psychic shadow is the part of a person that doesn’t grow the normal way. It grows alongside us to show us, through our fantasies or play or (to a certain extent) clues found within our personal crises, what not to do.

The shadow is not a cohesive concept along the lines of a thought form. It is the movement of certain themes through our lives, and some of our more primitive personal reactions to them.

Shadow work describes an ethical spiritual activity through which we can sublimate our shadow by expressing its themes in harmless ways. Shadow work does not involve passive aggression nor violence nor other people directly, ever. It is not magic of any kind. It is done alone, and with intent to learn and grow.
